NEW MEXICO TOURISM DEPARTMENT - ADVANCING NEW MEXICO

“We want to leverage this cross-agency communications model to give more people access to state resources.”

PROBLEM:

Problem: Through a unified, cross-agency campaign, the state of New Mexico achieved one of the highest COVID-19 vaccine rates in the nation. We want to leverage this cross-agency strategic communications model for Advancing New Mexico to connect more New Mexicans to numerous state resources Our state government plays a vital role in the lives of the people of New Mexico. Yet, the stories of our day-to-day interactions with the people we serve and the month-after-month programs we deliver are not often understood.

SOLUTION:

Create a platform to share the leading thought and innovations that are emerging in New Mexico, stories that highlight the impact state programs are having on businesses, families, communities, and individuals. Advancing New Mexico was created to connect New Mexicans to resources by highlighting the work of our state agencies.

METHOD:

Create video testimonials that span state agencies and include Human Services, Economic Development, Indian Affairs, Veterans Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture, Workforce Solutions, Higher Education, and more. This is the start of an ongoing effort to give voice to the people whose lives we touch to build awareness so more New Mexicans may benefit ultimately.

OUTCOME – ONGOING:

By utilizing the contact databases and social media channels of state agencies, methodically distributed 60-second testimonial videos over three months. In sharing Advancing New Mexico videos through select digital platforms, we helped amplify the voices of New Mexico constituents and give more people access to our programs.

The launch of the NM.GOV gives New Mexicans and organizations a one-stop shop for accessing the programs, tools, and resources the state has to offer. With the release of these videos, we highlight these programs and demonstrate the impact they have on the lives of our fellow New Mexicans, so more may benefit.
